Today marks my one year anniversary of when I began working for/with the Sports Gab Network here at Vikings Gab. It all started with a tribute to Heath Farwell and it has been all downhill from there (just kiddin’) and 757 articles later I’m wondering why I ever signed up for this job (still just kiddin’). In all seriousness, this gig has been a great experience and I am very thankful to Matt Loede and Sujeet Patel for giving such an opportunity. I am also grateful for Chris, Aaron, Todd, and all the other great bloggers I have met along the way. Most of all, I am thankful to the readers of this site. You guys are the best on the net, and that’s a fact. As we continue to grow (January shattered all previous records for traffic to the site) I want you all to know that I remain committed to finding ways to make VG better each and every day. So, if you please, I invite you to tag along for an even better year here at Vikings Gab as we all blog about the Vikings 2010 Super Bowl run… and victory! Thanks again everyone!

The Star Tribune reports that the Vikings are bringing in kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd in for a visit, meaning he is the first free agent being brought in by the Vikings nearly four days into free agency. In two years Lloyd has forced 51 touchbacks on kickoffs. In 2009, Ryan Longwell forced only five.

With a flurry of activity Thursday night, the 2010 NFL Season officially began. In the short 24 hours since the clock struck anew on the season, several fortunes changed for both a variety of teams and players. Notably, the Chicago Bears played the role of aggressor as the signed both defensive end Julius Peppers and now former Vikings running back Chester Taylor to noteworthy contracts.

More than a year after two Minnesota Vikings sued the NFL over its anti-doping procedures, the closely watched case heads to trial Monday with sports leagues worried the outcome will hurt their ability to enforce drug policies across the country. Defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams played all last season while challenging their four-game suspensions for testing positive for a banned diuretic during training camp in 2008. The NFL wanted the case decided in federal court, but it instead wound up before a Minnesota judge and the trial will attempt to settle a handful of labor issues and the big one is deciding who employs the players - the NFL, the Vikings, or both - when it comes to drug testing
